About the Team

Hi, we're Gila and Malvina, the creators of LighTable. We're in tenth grade and created this project because we noticed that the problem went unsolved in the classrooms around us. Our inspiration for this project stems from a basic classroom. Some of the traits of a modern classroom include: reckless, loud, and unorganized. To solve this, we created the LighTable. Not only does it help keep a classroom full of kids quiet, it helps draw attention away from students with social anxiety. Social anxiety can make a student fearful of asking questions during class. They fear that they'll be made fun of or belittled for the question they're asking. By using lights, the teacher will be able to see the student with a question from the front of the classroom without the need of a raised hand.
